Travelling to school
School buses
While we are located in Camley Street, we are offering a bus service every morning and afternoon.
There are two pick-up locations in catchment locations (Belsize Park and Swiss Cottage) which open from 8.15 each morning. Parents and Carers stay with their children until they are safely on the bus and then children are supervised by Abacus staff. Abacus staff are at these locations and on the buses, collecting and transporting children to the school site on Camley Street.
School leaders and class teachers are available to talk to parents at collection points/on school buses on a regular basis.
The bus service is offered free of charge and is a booked service with some flexibility for families who would like to bring their child to school themselves.
Please note that we are a walking school.
This means we actively discourage the use of private cars during the school run and encourage all members of the Abacus community to walk, cycle or use public transport when travelling to school.
Our school is a 35 minute walk along the canal from Belsize Park catchment area. Both Kings Cross and Camden underground stations are a 10-15 minute walk from school and Camden overground station is 10 minutes walk from our school. There is a cycle docking station on Camley street for London cycle hire schemes and we have bike parking facilities at school. The 31 and 46 bus travels from Swiss Cottage to walking distance of our school on Camden Street and the 1 bus comes from the Belsize catchment area.
Abacus is a GOLD accredited member of the TFL stars programme. Many of our submissions are directly related to our car-free and sustainable travel ethos. Children and staff are committed to our car-free ethos and know the importance of this on our student's current and future health.
